Natural, Environmentally Friendly Cleaning

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

We all spend thousands of dollars every year on keeping our house and work area clean. We want to make sure that germs and harmful insects and viruses are as far away from us and our loved ones as possible. We buy different kinds of floor cleaners, detergents, toilet cleaners, utensil soaps and a verity of things for this. Time and again we also keep trying newer stuff to be up-to-date when it comes to clean surroundings. All these items are a must in our monthly grocery shopping. This is what we do to make sure our homes are germ free. But do all these really perform to the task? Do these products make sure that your kids are protected from harm as much as possible? Not at all!

This is the time to break the myth that buying expensive synthetic detergents and cleaners are a guarantee for a clean germ free home. Instead it is quite the opposite. When you are buying these synthetic products you are actually opening doors to various harmful chemicals. These are harsh and abrasive for our skin as well as bad for our general health. These toxics become a part of your everyday life and also pave path for allergies, infections and rashes of various kinds. Imagine these chemicals on the floor of your child’s play area or on your kitchen shelves. The thought is not a happy one.

But now is the time to change all this. How would you react if something gives you a clean germ free home without harming your loved ones? Yes there are alternatives. Nature has gives us plenty of options to choose from. All these are easily available, totally natural, great for cleaning and entirely devoid of any harmful chemicals. Here is a look at some of the popular ones:

1. Soap nuts: These wondrous fruits grow naturally on trees, are dried and can be used as great cleaning agents. They have been used for centuries in places like India and Indonesia. They can act as a revolutionary change to your harmful chemical laden cleaners. Just 2-3 wrapped in a porous bag help you clean anything and everything. They are like the soap we use but only much safer and healthy.

2. White Vinegar: Just put vinegar on grease, stains, wax build-ups and mildew and see it work wonders. It also helps getting rid of bad odors.

3.Baking soda: This has amazing properties of cleaning as well as softening water.

4. Washing Soda: helps removing stains, cleaning tiles, sinks, tubs and also softens water. However it should not be used on aluminum.

5. Lemon: you want to get rid of household bacteria? Just sprinkle a bit of lemon juice and it will be highly effective.

6. Lemon + Vegetable oil: combine these two to make your wooden furniture sparkling.

Other important products that may help you are Borax, Isopropyl Alcohol (very effective disinfectant), Citrus Solvent (effective on oil and grease) and Cornstarch (for windows, rugs, polish furniture).

These are just to name a few. You can find numerous uses and advantages of these natural wonders. The best one being their contribution in preserving the environment. Just incorporate these in your house cleaning regime and you will never be worrying again. You will have a home that is not just germ free but chemical free as well.

Design Styles - Retro

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Defining a style is a tall order to fill. For each person a slightly different mental image may be conjured up. When talking of retro style, one might picture a fifties diner decked out in black and white check and cherry red vinyl booths, a fresh mint green kitchen with matching accessories, a minimal sleek space age space, or a “Rat Pack” era lounge.

Retro design encompasses several decades and many different design details, but they all seem to have a uniting outlook. After the gloomy rationing of World War II, people were ready for some bright colors and cheerful design. New technologies developed during the war made it possible to experiment with shapes and colors and affordability. The possibilities seemed endless and so did their optimism.

Here are a few ideas to help create retro style in your space:

-Colors-

It is a safe bet to choose cheerful bright colors or a more monochromatic scheme for more minimal sleek retro design. Common retro colors are pink, jade green, mint green, turquoise, cherry red, black, and sunshine yellow. Black and white checkerboard pattern and red and white geometric motifs were very common. Many mid-century modern enthusiasts prefer a more neutral scheme for a sleeker look. Whatever color you choose be sure that you love it. Just because it fits the style doesn’t mean that it needs to be all over your walls.

-Furnishings-

Choose upholstery pieces that are boxy and clean lined. Furnishings were often made of a variety of new materials including formica, fiberglass, plastic, resin, vinyl, linoleum, laminate, and plywood. Other popular materials were aluminum, stainless steel, and polished chrome. Teak, birch, ash and maple were common often with light or natural finishes. Coffee tables were curvy or kidney shaped and dining tables round or oval. Famous chair styles developed in this period include the Eames lounge chair, butterfly chair, barcelona, and tulip chair. Adding a chair such as those mentioned would be sure to give that retro feel.

-Textiles-

Soft textiles in the form of rugs, pillows, drapes, and throws are an easy way to repeat your color scheme throughout the room. Fabric choices are endless and could include a variety of colors and textures. Geometric prints and atomic symbols, along with asteriks, starbursts, bubbles, boomerangs, amoebas, satellites and rockets would all do the trick. Shag rugs and plush carpets are also a great choice.

-Putting it all together-

Now comes the tricky part, putting it all together. It is far too easy to get carried away with retro style and end up with a space that feels to themed. So how do you prevent that? Decide before you start what tone you would like to set. If you want the space to feel like a 50’s diner than go for it, but if something a little more subtle is what you had in mind, use retro pieces somewhat sparingly. A little bit of whimsy can go a surprisingly long way. Plus it is a sure way to keep your space up to date while still having that charming retro feel. Keep it as simple as you possibly can.

One of the best things about Retro style besides its whimsy and charm is the ease and affordability with which you can find objects and furnishings for your home. Check out garage sales, flea markets, or thrift stores. You’d be surprised at some of the great things you will find.

How To Choose A Home Renovation Contractor

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

When you have to choose a contractor for some of the renovation work on your home, how will you tell the difference between a certified professional and a charlatan?

Research and the right questions are what you’ll need to make this important decision. Keep reading to learn how to choose the right contractor and save yourself both time and money.

Where to Find Good Contractors

Before you even begin interviewing potential contractors, you need to find them first. Initially, educate yourself on your proposed project so you have an idea of the expertise that’s going to be needed for your particular job. For example, if your home improvement project involves a lot of plumbing work, then you know to look for a contractor with plumbing experience. Expertise is not transferable from one specialty to another.

When looking for contractors, try asking your friends for referrals, check online customer review sites, ask at your local home hardware store and take a walk through the yellow pages. Call at least three potential contractors to interview and request quotes.

While you’re asking for quotations, give every contractor the same information so your comparison is consistent. And be sure the information your provide is sufficiently complete that they can provide you realistic numbers and time frames.

How to Interview a Contractor

When interviewing a potential contractor, it’s important to ask these questions:

1. Are you licensed in this city/state?

If your potential contractor has a license, get the number and call your local building department’s licensing office to validate it. Also, contact your Better Business Bureau and state Consumer Protection Agency to find out what’s required to obtain a license in your state.

2. Can you provide me with 3 references from jobs done in the last year?

Use references to check your contractor’s work history, reliability and ability to stay on budget and schedule. Don’t be afraid to quiz the references on the specifics of the work they had done and to what level they were satisfied with the work. If there were problems of significance, that is what you want to unearth.

3. What insurance do you have?

Contractors should come to you insured. They should have general liability, workman’s compensation, auto insurance, and property and personal liability. Ask for a copy of your contractor’s insurance because the last thing you want is legal and financial responsibility should an accident take place on your property.

4. How experienced are you?

Find out how long your contractor has been in business. Anything over five years is usually a sign of a reliable, stable business. A work history less than this time period does not mean the person is not qualified or sufficiently experienced for the job. It simply means your risk might be a little higher.

5. Do you have a portfolio?

Most contractors will have before and after photographs of their past work. Look through these to get an idea of the type of work your contractor does and his or her abilities.

6. May I have a detailed estimate?

Ideally, you want an estimate or quote that’s itemized and includes labor, materials, overhead and a schedule. Ask for it in writing so you can easily compare it to estimates you receive from other contractors.

Area Rugs, Free Shipping

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

These days, you cannot buy an area rug from a reputable seller without being offered free shipping; the two go hand in hand. It is always nice to know that companies care about not only the selling part but also the safe and trouble free shipping of your precious area rug. With the area rug industry growing with leaps and bounds, the aim shifts from only selling the product to creating a new bond between the company and it’s valued customer, you. Free shipping is one of the most important values that can be added to the selling of a product. Customers love it, and when it comes to be a matter of choice, they will always go for that area rug which comes with free shipping.

Speaking of area rugs, the limits to your choice are endless. From the representation of your whimsical desire to pure class and elegance, the area rug of today provides for all of that with little or rather no difficulty at all. With the shattering of the barrier between the machine woven area rug and the handmade, the diversification in terms of quality, style and design is wondrous. And, the best part is that you don’t have to pay a single cent to ship it to anywhere you want. They have not started fedexing to moon at the time of this writing, but if there were people up there, and they were buying area rugs, I wouldn’t be surprised if these dealers offered free shipping. In today’s competitive market, that is, to reiterate, one of the best values that a seller can add to that splendid rug for your home décor.

Do not be under the impression that you have to spend a lot of money in order to elevate the mood of your home to a new exquisite height. An area rug does the job with acute precision. Brands like the famous Karastan sell affordable area rugs that will simply blow your mind. Though Karastan manufactures machine made rugs; don’t get fooled with that, because when placed beside a handmade rug, even the experts have doubts deciding which one is the machine-made one and which the handmade. To create something like this, a complete mimicry of human artwork, this is sheer mechanical excellence. It is not though that Karastan makes only machine made area rugs, as they import a lot of Persian rugs and Indian ones. Whether handmade or machine woven, one general assurance that the brand provides you is the guarantee of the quality of the wool, which is used to manufacture the rugs. Karastan uses wool of the highest quality to make their wonder rugs. This is a guarantee that has been there since 1928 and they intend to keep it that way, with no compromises on this one, ever.

Discount rugs are available from most dealers and you’d be amazed to see the level of quality you can get even when there is the discount tag attached to it. The discount is not because the rugs are bad but rather it is the celebration of the goodwill of the various companies as they are out to provide the customer satisfaction and in return, the inception of a life long relationship between them. The free shipping policy plays a pivotal role in developing this relationship.

Choice of material is never a matter of constraint. So what if you don’t like wool? There’s so much to choose from. New materials and fibers are being introduced constantly, in an effort to provide you the best possible option that you can have for your home. For example, manufacturers are using nylon in ways that you can’t imagine. It won’t even feel like nylon to you. Some may say that this is overworking the methods of rug making but on the contrary, it is the evidence of the untiring dedication of the manufacturers to furnish the maximum possible choices for you. They are very well aware of the fact that your home is important to you and it is important that you get an exhaustive range of options from which you can find the perfect one for your home.

Rugs and home; the former complements the latter and becomes the pride of any home owner for whom the look and feel of his or her home matters. This relationship has its own history and the variety of rugs that are found all across the globe are a testament to it. The Persians made their rugs a whole aspect of their identity and so did many other cultures. The explanation is simple, because rugs can define one’s home, add that essential warmth and color to any part of your home. This wonderful property of the area rug makes it the pride of any room and of course, your home. Use a rug to change your home and the way you will remember your home when days have passed across the landscape of time. A rug adds to the perfect home and takes the not so perfect home to the pedestal of perfection. If you own a good rug from a reputable collection, your satisfaction, so far as making your home a more livable place is concerned, is guaranteed.

So stop looking for useless and expensive ways to achieve your goal of beautifying your home, and go buy an area rug. You’ll most definitely end up saying, “why didn’t I try this before?”

Indoor Plants: “Talking About Turning Your Home Green”

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Having problems of a bare space inside your house? Are you confused on how to create a positive vibe around it? Or do you want your indoors to have a touch of Mother Nature?

All of these questions are commonly boggling the minds of many citizens in the United States today, especially those who are living in a highly urbanized area. These are also some of the common quandaries, that you can meet at home, especially if you are more of a nature-lover person, or you want to spice up your house spaces with a touch of the color “green.”

The best answer to these problems is simply by placing some indoor plants inside your home. Isn’t it fantastic? Or do you still want some good reasons for it?

Indoor plants are common ornaments inside the house, ever since in the past centuries. It was used in countries like Japan, China, Egypt, Greece, and other countries to beautify the place, mosque, dining room, or even a simple bedroom.

Even up to the present, it is widely used in different countries; with the same purpose to give an empty and dull space at home a sort of “face-lift” or an aesthetic touch. But the use of these ornamental stuffs is more than just for decorations. Nowadays, many home arrangement experts or interior designers would recommend to have some indoor plants in different spots inside the house, because it gives a positive energy to the individual members of the household. It refreshes your soul, and it can even help in getting rid of that exhausted feeling, thus giving you some relief from stress.

Moreover, indoor plants are ideal if you want to see natural wonders upon waking up in the morning. Having one inside your bedroom will give you the vibe that will make you ready to face the rest of the day. It simply clears your mind from worries, and rejuvenates your inner being.

Another purpose of indoor plants is that it get rids of air pollution inside the house. Family members constantly produce carbon dioxide when they are undergoing a process of gas exchange, where oxygen is taking in, and carbon dioxide is blown off. The carbon dioxide gas is a waste or a polluted gas, and green plants are absorbing this for nutritional purposes. While on the other hand, oxygen is vital for survival of our cells and tissues to maintain the normal functions of the body. In return, Green plants are producing this so-called “good gas” as well. Having indoor plants will contribute for a balanced air production and exchange inside the home.

There are different indoor plants to choose from, some of which are the Chinese evergreen, Chamaedorea palm, Cactus bonsai combo, Braided Ficus tree, Angel ivy ring topiary, Moth orchid, Ponytail palm, Myer’s Asparagus Fern, Cast Iron Plant, Panda plant, Golden Stars, Swiss cheese plant, Slipper orchid, Rabbit’s foot fern, Baby’s tears, Peace lily, English Ivy, Wax plant, Crown of thorns, and the Prayer plant.

So if you are still having similar questions in your mind as what have been stated earlier, it’s about time that you should think and consider turning your indoor spaces into something fresh, lively, and most of all, green. And do such, start gathering indoor plants right now.

What to Look For in a Carpet Cleaning Company

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

There are a number of carpet cleaning companies, and all of them claim to be the best. In this article I will attempt to help identify the true professionals from the pretenders. Why might you ask should it matter? Aren’t they all the same? Nothing could be further from the truth. If you don’t do a small amount of homework you may have a technician show up at your house in hatchback with a Rug Doctor and wearing a FBI (female body inspector) hat.

First, you should consider the method you will use to find a reputable cleaner. The best way to find a good cleaner is to ask family and friends. Good cleaners will take care of their customers because they know referrals can make or break their business. If you are new to an area and don’t have many friends or you have been ostracized, you can always call the local Chamber of Commerce or the Better Business Bureau. However, you have to realize these are organizations that have paid memberships. So, they are going to recommend members first, regardless of whether they think they are the best or not. Lastly, you can go to the yellow pages of the local phone directory. Scan the ads for companies that list the services offered and what makes them different from all the others. Stay away from companies that have a picture of their nice vans or their family. Usually, these companies have nothing that sets them apart from the competition.

After you have a couple of good referrals or five or six companies from other sources, you should start calling. You should be aware that many bigger companies have customer service reps that will answer your call live; however, many carpet cleaners are owner operators that have to do everything themselves. It may take them a couple of hours to get back to you. If you call a company and they answer “hello”, it may be a sign that they are not very professional. A cleaning company should answer with they name of the business and give you their name.

Now that you have a live person on the phone I will give you some questions to ask to narrow your search. Ask if the technician will be using a self-contained truck mount. If they say no they will be using a portable, move on to the next company. Almost all portables will not produce the heat or vacuum to properly clean your carpet. Next, ask if they price by the square foot or by the room. Square foot pricing is preferable, that way you only pay for the area cleaned. Room or area pricing is very popular, but you are charged for the entire room, even if you have furniture that can’t be moved. Also, there is usually a maximum size of a room to be considered an area. So, if your living room is 300 sq. ft. and the max is 250 sq. ft., you will be charged for two rooms. Also, a hall may be considered an area, even if it is 50 sq. ft. Next, ask if the owner will be performing the work. Owners generally take much more pride in their work. Having the owner there is a definite plus. Ask if they are a low-moisture cleaner. Low-moisture cleaners use significantly less water than traditional steam cleaning. They specialize in cleaning to the base of the fiber without getting the pad or subfloor wet. As a side note, steam cleaning is a misnomer. Most cleaning methods are hot water extraction, but steam cleaning gets its name from the steam coming off the floor as the super hot water is applied. They do not actually use steam. We recommend low-moisture cleaning because typical steam cleaning uses high pressure water to blow dirt off the fiber and try to suck it back out. The problem is that it blows the dirt into the backing were it is next to impossible to get it back out. Also, you want to ask if the price quoted includes items such as vacuuming, pre-spraying, and furniture moving. Most reputable companies can answer these questions with little trouble. If you get someone one the phone that hesitates or fumbles their words, then that could be a warning.

So again, seek referrals from trusted friends or neighbors to find a good cleaner in your area. If that fails, test the waters of the Chamber, BBB, or yellow pages. Most likely, not all cleaners will meet all the requirements mentioned above; however, you can create a score card and go with the cleaner that scores the highest, good luck.

Chandeliers are ceiling-mounted light fixture that has multiple branches that bears light on each of it. It is usually made of brass steal, or other metals, with pieces of crystals, or even diamonds dangling around it, which gives more illumination by refracting the light at the center bulb.

It is very popular even in the olden days. In fact, in the past, most of them are made up of just a simple wood attached on each other to form a cross, and candles are placed on the endpoints of the figure, and it was hang at the middle of the house.

These are also common in castles, especially during the eras of England’s most powerful kings and queens. It is being suspended at the dining hall, in the reception hall, or even in the living quarters of these royalties.

At present, most of the chandeliers of the past are still alive, but instead of gaining a low value due to old age, these things are being sold or auctioned at a very high price, due to its “royalty” value.

The purpose of these light fixtures is that it can add to the design of your living room, or dining room. There are chandeliers that are created specifically on a particular area, and with beautiful designs, such as flowers, angels, and butterflies.

Another purpose is, it can set a both a lively and a romantic mood inside the house. That is, the amount of light it generates, plus the colorful refracted lights on its crystals, can set the ideal mood for a romantic evening for lovers, and a sparkling and vivacious moment for the whole family.

Chandeliers add life to your house. Whether you have a mansion or just an ordinary house structure, you can avail of the perfect piece that will suit your home theme. The designs of these home accessories range from the simplest, to the most complicated and modish one. In fact, there are chandeliers that are bordered by colorful precious stones and Swarovski crystals that can create rainbow light shows when lit.

But one of the important thing you should remember, the more intricate the designs, and more valuable the materials were used, the more expensive the chandelier is. So if you don’t want to over stretch your budget, you can settle for pieces that have simple glass or crystal prisms, but can make your house spot very attractive as well. There are a variety of designs and colors you can choose from, but it is all up to you which one you would like to fit the general theme of your house spot.

So what are you waiting for? You should better decide to grab one now, and let these striking chandeliers light up your home.

So consider this: Insurance may protect the cost of your belongings, but it does nothing to protect you from harm! The average home is a very dangerous place; Water, gas & electricity surround us in almost every room. So why put yourself at a risk greater than that of your belongings?

Intelligent Home Control can detect water, gas, smoke and carbon monoxide. Should your IHC system detect a leak, it will cut off the relevant supply. In the event of a gas leak, it will also cut the electricity. When the leak has been contained by your Intelligent Home Control system, it will send you a message notifying you of this.

As a precaution against fire, your Intelligent Home Control system can be set to activate sockets at predefined times. You can also control the power supply to cookers and other appliances via a single switch. This can offer you peace of mind should there be children in the home. With IHC, you are in complete control at all times – even when you are not at home yourself.

Should your Intelligent Home Control system detect a leak of any kind, it will:

* Emit a high-pitched alarm

* Cut off the relevant supply

* Cut off any or all of the other supply’s (To reduce the fire risk from electrical installations, should your system detect smoke, it can be programmed to shut most of these down. If your home has a gas supply, IHC can also be programmed to shut this off to reduce the risk of explosion.)

* Send a message to the homeowner informing them that the problem has been contained

Can you really afford not to take such precautions? The Intelligent Home Control system is smart, yet simple & offers unrivalled safety around the home. Importantly too, this technology is not overly expensive. In the past, these Central Intelligence Systems have been available only to the privileged – an exclusive club! Home Improvements With Blu-ray and HD-DVD

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

To help you decide about which system to use with your home improvements, here is some information on the two formats, Blu-ray and HD-DVD, plus some pros and cons of each.

Ordinary CDs and DVDs use a laser that produces red light (whose wavelength is about 650nm, a little more than half a micron). Blu-ray and HD-DVD units use a blue-light laser, with wavelength of 405nm (a little less than half a micron). That tiny difference in wavelength makes a large difference to many people.

Standard DVDs can hold about 4.7GB of data. That data can be computer documents or thanks to clever software movies or audio. That permits storing a two-hour film and a few extras to display on standard TV sets. It isn’t nearly enough to store a high-definition film to show on 720p or 1080i or 1080p HDTV sets.

The number refers to the number of lines of pixels on the screen, the ‘i’ or ‘p’ indicates whether those lines are painted in two passes - every other line interlaced - or progressively in one pass. 1080p has the best picture, all other things being equal - which, of course, they rarely are.

Now for HD (high definition) discs and players.

Blu-ray and HD-DVD can both store enough data for a HD film and extras - HD-DVD up to 30GB using dual-layer discs and Blu-ray up to 50GB or more. Both achieve this by using smaller pits in the aluminum disc, spaced closer together in spirals layed out from the center to the edge.

A smaller wavelength laser is neeeded, mainly because of some interesting physics of waves, to ‘read’ the more closely spaced pits. Some 100GB discs and players are under development using four layers inside a single disc. That could store 10 years of standard TV episodes on a single disc.

Though important for computer applications, the different storage capacities mean little to consumers interested primarily in watching HD films and other on-disc content. Either will display the same quality image on an HDTV. Both will offer far superior audio compared to today’s DVDs.

But there is behind-the-scenes activity that does make a difference to consumers.

Most of the major studios are lined up to deliver Blu-ray format content, though some are supporting both. HD-DVD players and some content are now available and the machines are currently priced about half (+/-$500) the anticipated prices of Blu-ray machines. Blu-ray machines are expected to launch in the summer of 2006. Either format will play a standard DVD.

This time, Sony (makers of both Beta and Blu-ray) seem determined not to repeat the experience of the 1980s. They’ve lined up a great many large company supporters, including Panasonic, Samsung and others.

Toshiba (originators of HD-DVD), Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft and others are pushing HD-DVD. The advantages are much less need (and therefore lower cost) to modify existing disc duplication equipment and other technical factors.

It’s too early to tell which format will win out, or whether they’ll both carve a large enough niche withconsumers to remain viable. It’s likely at this stage that Blu-ray will win out for films and HD-DVD for PCs, but it’s too soon to be sure. Much will depend on costs and available content over the coming years. See what fits in with your family, budget and other home improvement plans.

How to Choose the Right Kitchen Cutlery

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

If you cook, for yourself, for your family and friends, for customers, one of the kitchen utensils that you really need is kitchen cutlery. Kitchen cutleries are sets of kitchen knives with each knife having different cutting purposes. Chefs usually have a kitchen cutlery since they cook using different types of ingredients. If you cook simple dishes, then you’ll only need some of the kitchen knives. But regardless of that, you still need to find the right knife for you. Many people do find it hard to pick the right knife, so they just grab one and use it. But if you want to make sure that you are using the best knife, then you must thoroughly research on the knives available in the market and find the one that is right for you. Here are some tips that will help you choose the best knives there is for you.

The first thing that you must take into consideration when choosing a kitchen knife is the grip. If you can have a firm grip on a knife, then that knife is good for you. You should also think if the weight is comfortable for you. If it is too light or too heavy, then those knives won’t do. You need to find one that can satisfy your liking. Control over the knife should be considered too. If you feel like you can control the knife, the weight is comfortable, and you can maintain a good grip at it, then that is the right knife for you. The next problem you would be facing though, are the factors that affect the knife. This includes the material that was used to make the knife, the method that was used to make it, and the type of handle that it has. This affects everything about the knife like its flexibility, its ability to be rust-proof, its weight, and even its usage.

The blade is usually made from different materials all of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. Ceramic knives, for example, are made from ceramic materials. It is stain-proof and rust-proof. It can hold the edge longer than steel. But ceramic knives are not flexible and when it gets dull, you’ll need to sharpen it using a diamond stone. Know what material the knife is made from so that you’ll be sure what you need from a knife.

There are three methods used to create a knife: stamping, forging and multilayer. Stamp knives are very flexible. Most of stamp knives though, have no finger guard but manufacturers are slowly making stamp knives with finger guard. Forged knives are heavier and less flexible than stamp knives. All forged knives have a finger guard. Both these two compete with each other. But the best knives that you can buy are the multilayered ones. Multilayered knives are proud for being hard and heavy while still having a good flexibility. But is too expensive and therefore, only worth buying if you are totally interested in it.

There are two types of handle of knives. The first one is the in-line handle in which the top of the handle is in line with the top or spine of the knife blade. Off-set handles has the handle raised above the spine. Any of the handle types would do. But the important part of the handles is the material it was made from. The handle you would want is the one that you could maintain a firm grip on. That means that the handle should not get slippery when wet. A handle that is made from wood do not get slippery when wet but requires much caring so that it would not break. Plastic and stainless steels used as materials from the handle usually get very slippery when wet but at the very least, they do not require too much caring. Choose which handle can benefit you most so that you won’t find it hard to cut your ingredients.
